Minecraft 1.0 --> 1.2.5

Hello,

We have decided that our next major update in Minecraft will be to 1.2.5. As I was preparing 1.2.4, Bukkit announced that they were ready for 1.2.5. Bukkit already has the source to 1.2.5, so they will release CraftBukkit 1.2.5 in parallel with Minecraft 1.2.5.

You won't have to suffer on 1.0 for much longer!

Negotiations are still ongoing with {UG} to create a unified Minecraft server.

Mojang will officially release Minecraft 1.2.5 on 4/4/2012 @ 9AM (my time). This works perfectly for me, as I only have school Monday-Wednesday, so there will probably be a Bukkit build out when I get home. I don't think there will be many changes, so stuff for 1.2.4 might still work.

I'm looking forward to getting us updated, let's hope that everything goes as planned!

Regards,
Tom

Yay! Finally I will be able to get rid of this old 1.0 jar. And the bugs that were in 1.0...ARE FUCKED UP. Btw, you didn't put "PS: This isn't an April Fool's joke." on the name change...Hmm, I caught you there!

I'm glad that we can finally get up to date.

You are exactly right, but 3 days isn't much more to wait considering I didn't end up having enough time to do it this weekend. 1.2.5 fixes a ton of bugs, too. Since it's released on my last day of school this week, there won't be schoolwork to trump my efforts. We'll have to setup a better process in the future for upgrading ASAP, maybe I could schedule/plan it more so that it doesn't get put off. But like I said before, we're not the only ones stuck. Albeit, we are more behind than other servers (1.1, 1.2.3), I'd much rather have a stable (and working) server than a buggy, 'bleeding edge' server.

Yea, I can't stand it when a server is down and I feel like playing Minecraft. Remember though, we all would be glad to help in any way possible with all the work that is required.

Although we appreciate the support, the work is all on our end. The best thing you could do is nothing! Constant pokes about 'is it done yet?' or 'how long?' or 'tom can I _______' only make it take longer, plus it's impossible to estimate the amount of time in the first place.

The only thing that you guys could do could be to tell us your name on the 'old' Minecraft server - the one that stayed on 1.8 - the one that was on before Alex's server was migrated over. I'm not talking about your nickname (if you have one), I'm talking about the actual username (in your Minecraft client) that you connect with. If it was the same as it is now, you are fine. If it was different, please message me your old name and your current name. Passwords are irrelevant - we will use the current password database.

I used the same username since I have a legit account. I can't wait for 1.2.5, and WTF ITS YOU LAST DAY OF SCHOOL? Also, I thought you said Stealth didn't want to make the unified server due to losing people?

If you used the same username, you should be fine. To everyone else: only PM me about the username if it is different than the one you use now! :P

Marow, I only have 3 days of school this week. I wish it was the last day of the year! It's only Spring Break.

{UG} Minecraft is running pretty well right now. They are worried that the merge could mess up the equilibrium that they are currently experiencing, which is understandable. If we get this set up correctly, it will be a huge success.

A huge misconception among some members is the old {UG} merge of 2011. This merge was not planned well, and it was better for us to remain separate communities than to continue making compromises. As intellectuals, we were able to rationally work things apart, rather than try our best to steal members from eachother as fast as possible (like some clans we know). Some things just couldn't be compromised; we had our way we wanted it done, they had their way, and as compromise wasn't possible we cut our losses and moved on. This merge would be completely planned, and executed as close as possible to the guidelines so that we both get a fair deal and get what we want. If planned properly, we can create the best Minecraft community on the net.

Providing that you beat KingsCraft which hosts 200 people a day with no lag. But other than that, this is great news and I cannot wait :)!

Do you think we can have a minecraft based meeting that only includes the minecraft admins which means Me, Marow, Mike, Tom, Anthony, Alex, and Dropshot. so that we can plan out all of the building and plot stuff and or anything that we are removing in the 1.8.1 world and what we are adding to the Creative World if we have one. Just a thought so we can get this all worked out so that it will run smoother when that time comes. We might even talk to {UG}'s admins if they have any lol

I find this an excellent idea. It would be good to discuss some much needed topics. Altough UG does not want to ruin their community.

Although numbers of players online is a good way to tell the success of the server, it is not the only way.

A server with that many players would need lots of (active) staff, good hardware and a lot of coding knowledge to stay afloat. Obviously we don't have the most active Minecraft server around, but it doesn't matter to me if we have 200 people online. More people, although it means more contributions, means you need more staff and would have to dedicate a lot more time. We simply cannot do that.

I like the idea of the meeting. Like I said, Bukkit 1.2.5 will hopefully be out by around 4/4/2012 @ 3pm my time. If the server staff can get online, maybe around 4pm (one hour later) so that plugins can be updated, that would be good.

i was kind of thinking like having a meeting before the update. Like on Wednesday or tomorrow so we know what we are doing before we actually do it so that it is easier and we can work any problems out when they happen. Im just saying it would make the whole thing easier if we have an idea of what we need to get done so that on that day we can get on and get it done without waiting for everyone to get online so we can start explaining what we are doing. We will already know what to do.

I'll be sure to get on everyday like I'm usually on. Unless I get hit by a bus or something on my way home...
