Technology / I need monitors - Help me
« on: November 24, 2014, 01:47:21 pm »
Hey Guys,

I am looking to get some new monitors over black Friday.

Some things I'm looking for -

- Either BenQ, Asus, or Samsung

- 22 inches or bigger

- Gaming specifications (No, I don't need the best of the best.  Although, I do game from time to time so I want something relatively suitable)

- I'm getting 2.  I was going to get 3, but I don't want my entire desk covered in monitors.  Also, I'm moving out next fall and I wouldn't have room for 3 monitors.

- I'm getting a stand too, hopefully something that attaches to my desk but I'm not sure.

(Hopefully 400> but I have room to grow if needed)

How did you do?

What do you plan on changing? (Habits, studying, etc etc)

What courses are you taking in the spring?

David your old montages were the best around.

Hey Friends,

I've been thinking of making this type of thread for the past few weeks and I am finally generating it.  So, the main question I have is what are all of you doing these days?

If you came here a year and a half ago, we'd all probably be playing Mw2 and hanging out on teamspeak.  Yes, I know we had a large crowd yesterday, but we all know many of us just don't have time anymore.  Anyway, many of use could say that eG and this whole gaming community has generated many friends.  Call it what you want, we've bonded for hours and many of us still chat today.

To get back to my point, what is your life like today?  Do you still do stuff on the internet?  Do you have a job?  Are you in college?  Girlfriend?  Have you explored any other hobbies?  What struggles do you have in the "real" world?

I am going to actually create a few more threads for open discussion on things such as fitness and health.

Don't hesitate to open up about what you're doing, this is a no-judgement thread.

As soon as I post this I am going to reply with what I've been doing, I can't wait to hear what you all have to say.

Other / You know you've been in eG/H1 too long when...

I know this has been done before, but I'm bringing back some old memories.

You remember..

We used RCON to ban and kick people from our cod servers.

Skype was our main source of communication.

We only played on 24.7 HC highrise

Our servers were the hottest on the market, and were usually always full.

David burned down Ali's (Tom's sister) house and Tom got very mad.

David hired slaves on his minecraft plantation, about 10 people working on his tunnel.

David's property in minecraft was dangerous, you would most likely fall into a lava pit if you dared to enter.

David left the clan for about a month

Our teamspeak was maxed out most weekends.

We often times played competitively.

Inner clan battles were weekly.

What do you remember?

Technology / iOS: Diminishing Opinions
« on: July 10, 2013, 02:00:17 pm »

Does anybody here have an iPhone?

I've always been an I0S fan, but my opinion has been drastically changing lately.  I purchased the iPhone 5 as soon as it came out, replacing my 4S.  At first, it was a "new iPhone" with "better hardware" but the phone is worse!  I use my phone for messaging, phone calls, twitter, tapatalk, and the occasional web browse. It can't even handle that!  My phone freezes, crashes, turns off randomly, it's terrible!  I could sit here for days complaining about the lack of innovation, but what I'm really saying is.... I want the S4.

iPhone = CoD

Good talk, thoughts?

Too bad it doesn't come out on PC.  One thing that I am very confused about is that the game isn't being released on the next gen consoles.... does anybody know why?  It is only available on the Xbox360 and PS3.  I have an Xbox360, so I may get the game because I love the series.

Here's the gameplay trailer, it looks pretty cool.

Hey Guys,

Did anybody catch the revealings of the new consoles?  I know most of you are die hard PC players, but it was pretty cool to see the new hardware.  I've had the thought of buying one when they are released, but I doubt it.  Check out this wrap up, it's pretty interesting.  If you were to choose a side in the "console war", which one would you pick?

Other / Let's talk.
« on: March 26, 2013, 03:53:41 pm »
Before I start, I just want to let you know that I am not making this topic in rage or in the spur of the moment.  I've had over 24 hours to think it through and let me put my thoughts out.  I am putting this publicly so everybody can see it and it won't be secretive.

About what happened: I was not online through the weekend until Sunday night.  I wasn't there for the clan battle and I am strictly neutral on what happened.  I know that Tom can lose control and rage, trust me.  He's human and shouldn't have temporarily banned anybody.  Although, I do know that everybody can escalate things to places they don't need to go.  Sometimes it takes a few hours to cool down and relax.

When I got home, Mike talked to me and gave the breakdown.  In the excitement of the moment, I hopped on the new S2K teamspeak and started talking.  My first reaction was to not get involved and not take sides.  I told Mike how I knew Tom raged and he often asserted his power too much on me.  Quickly, everybody stormed over there not because of what they had but because of who was there.  I DO NOT blame the followers.

Here's where I get upset:  Most of the leaders of S2K have been in eG for over a year.  Tom and I have spent countless hours with these guys with the weekly activities.  We fought like any family would but I always thought of them as close friends.  Tom has worked days and days on perfecting the servers and making them better.  We've created a community of people from around the world.

When you guys walked out, you pretty much made it clear that Tom and I were never a part of the "family" and we (especially Tom) just provided the servers.  I know that you had problems in the clan but they were never addressed.  One example I've heard was calling Kablamo homophobic names.  If he had a real problem, we'd stop.  He always made gay remarks and made jokes for himself.  If he actually PM'd one of us, the problem would have been easily resolved.  This is just one example of the countless problems that were never brought up.  That's not the point though, the point is this:

I do not care about power.  That has been really bothering me lately because that's the last thing I care about.  I know that simple rules can be necessary, but I've never been known to be a ban hammer on CoD or teamspeak.  Mike texted me saying how Tom showed me power and I took his side.  I understand what you're saying, but power to what?  Echo-Gaming is nothing without the core members.  I took Tom's side because I know how hard he's worked on this and that he really cares about you guys.

Don't take this the wrong way, I am not asking for a compromise where we go down a list of things to fix.  What I really want is for you to come back and give us a chance to let you have a part.  In the past, this has been a "Tom and David" show where we make the big decisions and ultimately run things.  Since this weekend, it's been clear that you all have talents and different ideas on running a clan.  I am not begging or trying to be all of your father, I am being a friend who looks at the positive memories made in the past with everybody.  The VIP office rule, I know that was probably a huge part in your exit.  I now understand why you hated it, because it made it impossible for you guys to hang out alone.  Tom and I would allow an infinite amount of guests in the offices or open more channels dedicated to the core.  Like I've said, we aren't begging or offering a plea, but it has been made clear of how you like things to be ran.

If you are interested, we'd be glad to go back to old positions and work to better the community with EVERYBODY'S opinions.  If you come on our teamspeak, I won't ban, kick, or harass you.  If you would like to talk about anything, I'll be on later tonight and can have a calm conversation.

For those who need a special statement:

Echo: Let me make this clear, I do not hate you.  I honestly (said it before) think you had a funny twist to the group.  Do people treat you harshly? Yes. Can that be changed? Yes.  I would not like to take a negative route, but the people in S2K will not change their opinions on you.  I think you're funny and can add a good laugh (especially on your first day of CoD).

Kablamo: Well, we've never liked each other.  I can't say we ever will, but I won't make any more homophobic remarks to you no matter what clan you're in.  You've always been a good player, I can say that.

Mike: Oh Mike where do I start.  I kicked and allowed you to be kicked yesterday because I know that you belong in eG and even if you never join again, I will always think that.  We've both said words through texting and what not, but you will always be a brother.

If anybody else would like a statement or my opinions on them, feel free.  I've had to chop my balls off to post this so please do not pick out the negative.

- David
