DayZ Standalone and Rust
« on: December 25, 2013, 03:28:57 pm »
Since both of these games emerged at the same time, I'm going to let them share a thread.

DayZ SA is the long-awaited stand-alone version of the DayZ mod. At the moment, the developers have warned players that it is rather buggy and that it is still in Alpha. According to this thread on Reddit, Rocket plans to follow the Minecraft pricing model, which means that as the game progresses more the final price increases. A beginning price of $30 is far from modest compared to the original Minecraft starting price. I might buy it for $30 while it's still "low" so that I can play it on occasion while in Alpha and more when it's finally released.

I don't know much about Rust, but here is an article that does a decent job at explaining both games:

Rust is supposed to be a conglomeration of Minecraft and DayZ.

Has anyone here played either of the games? What have your experiences been like?

I watched some gameplay from Rust and it's just a more realistic Minecraft. If you still like Minecraft then you should get it I guess.

DayZ Standalone I have played. Such a huge advance from the mod with better graphics and a better engine. Rust I'll probably buy in the near future but from what I seen it is a bunch of naked guys running around in the forest.

Just bought DayZ SA. Even though I may not have the time to play it avidly for a few months, it's a steal at $30. You know that it's going to skyrocket in price once it launches out of alpha/beta.

For rust if you can quickly get resources and not die then it'll be good for you cause most servers have pvp enabled
