Cannot decide on a NAS out of the two
« on: January 03, 2016, 12:23:34 am »

So I plan on buying a NAS (Network Attached Storage) when I can and I've narrowed it down to these two as I want 4-bay and just wanted some opinions on them :) I'll link below.

NETGEAR ReadyNAS 104 4-Bay Diskless NAS (Max 16TB) [RN10400-100AJS]

Seagate 4 Bay Diskless NAS [STCU300]

I am leaning more towards the NETGEAR as it has support for dlna media servers like Plex however I an uncertain whether the Seagate has those capabilities and I am going to do more research soon. Just thought i'd see what you guys think :) .

Oh and yes, how great are Australian tech prices? (Sarcasm intended).

Good idea, the position of co-leader is still available. ;)

I don't know much about the NAS market, but you could probably do it even cheaper by re-purposing an old computer, installing Linux and then setting up a Plex server.

Nice to hear from you Dropshot!

Yeah i've considered that but i want the compactness of a NAS case, I could always get a small case and use that so ill have to choose between those two options, however the Synology NAS has good software included. I'll have to check Teamspeak more often and catch up with everyone.
